Dream journal assignment- this is for chapter 5 and "states of consciousness." There's dreams, sleep, and drugs. Yes, Alex, drugs. Your dream journal is a major grade, and it's several layers of project. One of the layers is keeping track of sleep habits, and that's all of them, for a week, including falling asleep in a particular class (like Bowe's), etc. You need to track all the times that you sleep in that seven-day period. Do not lump it all together unless it was really lumped together. If you are awakened by something, write that down, like a dream, or an annoying brother, track all of that stuff. Also track your actual dreams. Everybody dreams, but you might not remember your dreams, that's okay, you get better at remembering your dreams by putting down the fragments. You're going to keep track of your sleep, and if you don't have a dream that you remember for that night, ask somebody about their dream, and write it down, not another psych student, so nobody should have duplicate dreams, you must ask somebody else. The point is that, when you are done for a week, you'll have an idea of which dream theories apply to you. Look and analyze the sleep theories, dream theories, etc. If you are uncomfortable sharing your dreams, write around it, etc. The daily dreams will not be read, the final product will be read.
Sleep patterns
Record thoughts upon sleeping and upon waking
Record your dreams - or dream steal.
Analyze the dreams- write a one to two page paper analyzing the sleep patterns, the dreams, and the theories that apply.
Present a "something" to the class about your dreams and sleep patterns. Most people stick with the dreams. 3D model? Playset? Collage? A song? A poem? Also talk about which dream theories fit you.
Due 2007-10-29. Consecutive days required. "Dreamscape" movie? Illustrations optional.
