EXPO: An Ontology of Scientific Research by Ross D. King & Larisa N.
Soldatova, Department of Computer Science, University of Wales,
Aberystwyth.
Somebody on the mailing list here, or somewhere else, mentioned this
group to me a few months ago, and I think I had a look at their
university website and smiled but didn't investigate further. I wasn't
aware that they had this GPL'ed EXPO project set up, which deserves
some mentions and comments. It's basically the same idea as SKDB, in
that we have societal knowledge of the sorts that we have to derive via
experimentation, but then focused on the ontology of the processes and
methods. It looks like the EXPO Group is more focused on the ontology
of the knowledge, rather than the ontology of the processes and
functional components of the experimental methodologies that are
implemented, but I think this distinction is minor and it's a sign of
being on the right track anyway.
I'll have to do some more processing/digesting.
