MEA Meeting 2008
6th International Meeting on Substrate-Integrated Micro-Electrode
Arrays

Location: Reutlingen, Germany
MEA Workshop July 8, 2008
Conference: July 8-11, 2008
http://www.nmi.de/meameeting2008

Dear Madam / Sir, Dear colleague

Micro Electrode Arrays (MEA) have become a real enabling technology
in basic and industrial research and development. We are pleased to
announce that the 6th International Meeting on Substrate-Integrated
Micro Electrode Arrays will be held from July 8-11, 2008, in
Reutlingen (Germany).

We would like to invite you to submit abstracts on the following
topics:

1. Neuronal dynamics and plasticity (information coding and
processing in neural networks, neural dynamics and plasticity in
neuronal systems)

2. Neuronal engineering (molecular engineering of cellular and
subcellular properties of individual neurons, stem-cell derived
neuronal cells)

3. Retinal signalling in developing, adult and diseased retina

4. Heart: Electrophysiology and pharmacology in primary and stem
cell-derived cardiac myocyte cultures

5. Pharmacology, Toxicology, Drug Screening with MEA-based assays

6. Signal Analysis and Statistics: Standardization and validation of
MEA applications, statistical methods for analyzing multi-electrode
recordings, data mining

7. Neurostimulation and neuroprosthetics (MEA-based investigation on
principles of neuronal interfacing for therapeutic neurostimulation,
neuroprosthesis and brain machine interfaces)

8. Technology: Advances in MEA technology, fabrication and
instrumentation (including arrays with CMOS circuitry and hybrid
systems integration of nanotechnology, multi-parametric detection of
cellular signals).

Deadlines
Abstract submission opens on: January 7, 2008.
Closing date: February 29, 2008.

ABSTRACT GUIDELINES
Abstracts should place emphasis on original research, applications
and developments, and should be new contributions to the areas
addressed by the sessions.

Online submission
Abstracts can only be submitted online via http://edas.info
You require an EDAS account before you start submission. You should
not create a new account if you already have an EDAS account.

Registration of abstract and file upload, author accounts
1. Go to Home - Submit Papers - and scroll down to MEA 2008.
2. On the right-hand column, click on the submit button.
3. The text of your abstract must be entered/cut and pasted into the
template (Figures and table must be submitted with your file upload,
see below "File for upload"). Then click on the submit button. You
will receive a registration number by e-mail.
4. You can change your abstract and add authors till February 29
(submission deadline). All authors of an abstract must have (or
create) an EDAS account.
5. Use the registration number to name the electronic file of your
abstract (see below "File for upload").

File for upload
Only Word documents or PDF files are accepted. To complete
submission: follow the link in the email to the EDAS site and upload
your .doc or .pdf file.

Format and Structure of Abstracts
Please format your abstract as follows:

1. Top right corner: Session name and Oral/Poster Presentation
preference
2. First line: Title of abstract (bold, capitalize first letter of
each word; German: fett, erster Buchstabe gross)
3. Second line: Names of authors: [Surname initial] [comma]
[superscript number]. Example: [Stett A1, Egert U2, Guenther E1,
Hofmann F3]
Affiliation: [superscript number] [Name of Dept] [comma] [name of
institute] [comma] [city] [(Country)]
4. Affiliations: Institute/Company, Dept., City (Country)
5. Abstract text (Word limit: 500 words). The text, tables and
figures should not exceed one DIN A4 page size (21 x 29.7 cm,
portrait/hoch). IMPORTANT: Your abstract must be uploaded on the
EDAS website.
6. Structure: Background/Aims; Methods; Statistics; Results;
Conclusions/Summary.
7. Figures & Tables: Text, figures and tables should not exceed one
A4 page (21 x 29,7 cm, portrait/German: hoch).

Abstract word limit: 500 words.

Decision
All submissions will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee. You
will be informed about their decision on your abstract by early
April 2008.

Proceedings Book
A citable (ISBN) Proceedings Book will be published. Instructions
for final submission will be sent to you in due course.

Please forward this message to any of your colleagues who may have
interest in participating in the 6th MEA-Meeting. In particular,
encourage young researchers to take the opportunity for presenting
their work to the worldwide MEA user community.
