What is transhumanism? Transhumanism is, essentially, the philosophy that we can recreate ourselves, whether socially, biologically, physically, perhaps digitally. See http://extropy.org/ for the philosophy.
The drafted Transhumanist Technical Roadmap is a project aimed towards self-transcension, overcoming human limitations or building new ways to exploit and utilize the information of a person's being -- really, it's self-transformation. The roadmap is in the spirit of DIY (do-it-yourself) garage-hacking open source methodology, i.e. let's get it done. Release early and release often. Many eyes, less bugs.
This mailing list, hplusroadmap, is for the discussion of the implementation, theory and perhaps philosophy of the roadmap and the emerging open futurists spread out across the web. Perhaps, collectively, we can map out the future and bring together effective methods of building the technology.
For those of you who are coming in re: the biohacking kit, please feel free to join (there's even a Facebook group) and ask questions about the kit. Realize, however, that the kit is just one aspect of a broad (yet intense) project. The biohacking kit for synthetic biology includes information on how to run bacterial cultures, stem cell research, transformation/transduction methods, DNA extraction and amplification, and many other topics. (See the first page and http://biohack.sf.net/ for more information.)
